The SSA Bulletin Board is where students post for roommates, study groups, friends, and things to do. It was inspired by Nimo through her suggestions — pin a note, share a public email, and connect.

Post what you need

Roommates, study groups, friends & activities.

Choose a category, write a short note, and put your email on the card so other students can reach you directly.

Stay in control

Protect each post with a 4-digit password.

When you pin a note, you set a password so only you can mark it complete later. Interest counts help show what is catching attention.

How it works
  1. Open the Bulletin Board
  2. Post or browse sticky notes
  3. Email someone or mark interest

Want the Aux?

At SSA events, everyone can help build the playlist. Search for a song, add it to the community request queue, and the person connected to Spotify keeps the room moving.

For everyone

Request songs without connecting an account.

Guests search the Spotify catalog, add a track, follow what is playing, and see what is coming next. Your request joins the bottom of the live queue.

For the host

One connected player keeps playback organized.

Only the event host connects Spotify. The SSA queue mirrors Spotify, removes songs after they play, and prevents the same request from playing repeatedly.

How it works
  1. Open Want the Aux
  2. Search and request a song
  3. Watch the shared queue update live

Programs

How SSA programs its events.

Every SSA event falls into one of two buckets. It shapes the size, the goal, and how we plan it.

Campus-Focused

Campus-Focused Events

Designed for broad student reach. Typically larger, more social, and attendance-driven — the goal is visibility, engagement, and campus presence.

  • Higher attendance targets
  • More promotional infrastructure required
  • Energy-forward programming
  • Designed to grow SSA's campus footprint
  • Often tied to seasonal moments or high-traffic windows
Community-Focused

Community-Focused Events

Intentional and specific. They prioritize depth over scale — conversation, reflection, service, and genuine community value. The goal is connection, not just attendance.

  • More thoughtful, discussion-driven programming
  • Designed for targeted audiences or specific purposes
  • Impact-oriented over attendance-oriented
  • Often more intimate in format and setting
  • Reflects SSA's responsibility to the broader Somali community
